Introducing Three New MCIRCC Catalyst Team Members

Introducing Three New MCIRCC Catalyst Team Members

We’re kicking off the summer with an exciting announcement: We’ve added three new, creative members to our MCIRCC Catalyst team. We’d like to introduce you to Bryce, Richelle, and Alex who have already started their work for MCIRCC.

Bryce Benson
Research Computer Specialist

Bryce comes to us from Vermont where he spent several years working on his PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Vermont. His research focused on developing computer models to improve treatment of atrial fibrillation (AFib) using catheter ablation.

What he’ll be working on: Currently, Bryce’s main project is building models in Data Robot for MCIRCC’s Analytic for Hemodynamic Instability with our data science team.

Why he’s excited to be here: “Unlike other data science or research careers, working at MCIRCC will allow me to have a direct impact on patient health.”

Hobbies: Hiking, soccer, cooking, and traveling

Richelle Weihe
Proposal Development Unit Manager

With 10 years of higher education, non-profit sector, government relations and research development experience, Richelle is joining us after several years at Arizona State University’s Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development. Before moving to ASU, Richelle worked for Missouri Botanical Garden, an international non-profit research institution to build relationships with funding agencies and develop a grant submission and pipeline program.

What she’ll be working on: Developing high-impact strategic research proposals to help advance MCIRCC’s mission and grow the Center.

Why she’s excited to be here: “Although Michigan was not on my short list geographically of places to move from Arizona, University of Michigan’s research reputation and MCIRCC’s mission and unique focus drew me to this position. Once I met the people who worked here and learned about all of the great research at the Center, I was sold.”

Hobbies: Collecting mid-century modern antiques, swimming, spoiling her niece and nephews, and volunteering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Alexandra Nowlin
Marketing and Communications Specialist

A very recent graduate of the University of Michigan, Alex will be permanently joining our team after working as our marketing intern for several months. Prior to working with MCIRCC, she was the social media and graphic design intern at University of Michigan News during her four years as a student.

What she’ll be working on: Writing and designing content that effectively conveys MCIRCC’s mission, groundbreaking research stories, and member accomplishments.

Why she’s excited to be here: “Having already been surrounded by the MCIRCC culture for several months, I’m insanely excited to continue telling the incredible stories that come out of the research and events we facilitate.”

Hobbies: Cooking (but mostly eating), tennis, napping, and anything that involves water and warm weather
