Meet Our Newest Associate Director
MCIRCC is excited to welcome Lena Napolitano, MD, FACS, FCCP, FCCM, to the team as its newest associate director.
Outside of MCIRCC, Dr. Napolitano serves as Professor of Surgery, Division Chief of Acute Care Surgery, and Director of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. In other words, Dr. Napolitano will be a huge asset to the MCIRCC leadership team and membership.
“We are delighted to have Dr. Napolitano join us as one of MCIRCC’s Associate Directors. Dr. Napolitano is a thought leader in trauma and surgical critical care with an extraordinary track record of translational research, teaching, training, and national leadership. We are looking forward to her helping MCIRCC to create significant additional innovative synergies and collaborations in trauma and critical care,” said MCIRCC’s Executive Director, Dr. Kevin Ward.
Here’s what Dr. Napolitano had to say:
“I am really excited to take on this important role at MCIRCC. I hope to assist in finding innovative strategies to treat critically ill and injured patients, with the ultimate goal of saving human lives. We currently have a national goal to achieve ‘zero preventable deaths after injury’ and this goal can be extended to our critically ill non-trauma patients as well. But it requires an intense pursuit of scientific discovery and innovation to achieve this – and MCIRCC has the team and tools to accomplish these goals. As Albert Einstein said: Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited – Imagination encircles the world.”
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Napolitano to the team!
