MCIRCC is now The Weil Institute!
Dear valued members, partners, and supporters,
I am greatly excited, enormously proud, and immensely grateful to share the news regarding the recent evolution of the Michigan Center for Integrative Research in Critical Care (MCIRCC). Thanks to an incredible gift from the Weil Family Foundation, MCIRCC will become the Max Harry Weil Institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation. As many of you know, Dr. Weil is considered one of the fathers and founders of Critical Care Medicine.
When we started MCIRCC in 2013, we took on the challenge to transform critical care by means of a vision originally created by Dr. Weil—producing the infrastructure and resources to transform critical care through innovation, integration, and entrepreneurship. This generous gift will enable us to expand upon that development, allowing for funding and facilitation of the most groundbreaking research ever seen across the spectrum of critical illness and injury. This new platform also presents us with the opportunity to revisit our enthusiasm for pursuing our mission to use multidisciplinary team science, big data analytics, specialized funding sources, and tailored commercialization pathway plans to push research from the bench to real applications in patient care.
One of Dr. Weil’s favorite quotes was “When you save one life, it is as if you saved the entire world.” I am continually honored and grateful to work with this incredible community of life-saving partners, supporters, members, and participants, and I look forward to working together to achieve this mission that we share as we step into the future as The Weil Institute.
Sincerely,
Kevin R. Ward
Executive Director, The Max Harry Weil Institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation
