Dr. Yao Lee joined the ULAM Pathology Core as a veterinary pathologist and ULAM faculty in July of 2023. In this position, she provides diagnostic service forclinical cases, pathologic service for non-clinical research, and teaching for ULAM residents. Dr. Lee did the anatomic pathology residency training in CummingsSchool of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University (first year), as well as in Division of Comparative Medicine at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (second andthird years). She learned both diagnostic pathology and comparative pathology from her post-DVM graduate school research and veterinary anatomic pathologyresidency; covering species from domestic small & large animals, exotic animals, and lab animal species.

Dr. Yao Lee’s primary research interests are virus research, immunology, and virus-host interactions. Previous projects included pathogenesis of porcinecircovirus, pathology of porcine torque teno sus virus in wasting pigs, feline and equine herpesviruses’ vaccine development, innate immunity of respiratoryepithelial cells, as well as circulating cellular clusters in COVID-19 human patients. She is enthusiastic about supporting research and building up collaborationswith other investigators.
